508 - BUNTING
During a game, certain situations could call
for a bunt. You could bunt for a base hit or to sacrifice yourself to advance base
runners.
1. The top hand slides up to the halfway position on the bat.2. Form a cradle,
with fingers and thumb to rest the bat. Top hand rests on the
bat.
2. Try to conceal you bunting efforts till the very last possible moment.
This won't allow the in-fielders to get a jump on the ball.
3. Assume the pivot stance. (Your hips, shoulders, head, and eyes facing the
pitcher)
4. Control the bat by not gripping it to tightly and without jabbing at the ball
when making contact. The ball should meet the bat with the bat held
motionless. This deadens the ball and by directing the bat
in the direction
you want the ball to go will is the object of bunting.
