601 - THE GORBOUS DRILL

PLAYING CATCH BY YOURSELF

This drill is named after Glen Gorbous, a Canadian who is listed in the Guiness Book Of World Records for throwing a baseball the distance of 445 feet, 10 inches. This is a great drill to develop shoulder strength, however, it is not easy to master.
1. With your weight on your back foot and your front foot slightly ahead throw
the ball straight up into the air.
2. If you dare you may try catching the ball when it comes down. Always
catch the ball in front of you during this drill because you will miss a few.
3. Start at a low number of throws each session building up to about 25 to 30
    each practice session.
