Burnout is not caused by sports participation. It is caused by the competitive environment that the win at all costs attitude forced upon young athletes by adults or coaches.

Children younger than 9 years of age often play organized T-ball, giving them their first exposure to a team environment. Parents should be more concerned with the child's natural development than their actual baseball skill development.

Children in this age group (lower level) have a limited concept of organization and strategy. The importance of the creative coach or parent in making activities fun while learning baseball skills is perfect preparation for baseball in the future of the child.
